RATIONALE

Sustainable management of natural resources and environment is one of the greatest challenges that humanity is facing in the 21st century and beyond, particularly in the face of climate change.  Good governance, along with economic development, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and peace and security, is at core of achieving sustainable development.

The United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration has been declared for 2021-2030. It recognizes that healthy ecosystems is the backbone of life on earth, hence, requires facilitating recovery of degraded terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and conserving those that are intact.

Resilience provides the missing link in sustainable development. Human activities significantly affected ecosystem resilience leading to the loss of biological diversity, land degradation, exploitation of marine ecosystems, emissions of pollutants and climate change.

In this conference, experiences in ecosystems restoration, resilience-building and sustainabvle development through INREM will be shared among academics, researchers, and practitioners (i.e. LGUs, NGOs) in environment
